Africa’s Highest & Coolest Braai Experience!
Recognized as Lesotho’s largest tourism festival by the Lesotho Tourism Development
Corporation for 2025, the Maletsunyane Braai Festival is more than just a celebration—it’s an
adventure! Set against the stunning Maletsunyane Falls in Semonkong, just 115km from
Maseru, this festival brings together thrill-seekers, food lovers, and culture enthusiasts in the
heart of Lesotho.
At 2,260 meters above sea level, the Maletsunyane Braai Festival proudly holds the title of
Africa’s highest and coolest braai festival. The breathtaking Maletsunyane Gorge, home to the
endangered Cape Vultures and critically endangered Bearded Vultures, adds a touch of
ecological wonder to this extraordinary event.
The Maletsunyane Falls, an awe-inspiring 192-meter drop, is officially recognized by Guinness
World Records as the longest single-drop abseil in the world. This natural marvel has also been
featured on Condé Nast Traveler’s list of the 50 most beautiful places to visit in Africa, making it
a bucket-list destination for adventurers worldwide.
What began in 2016 as a small, one-day gathering of a few hundred Basotho has now
transformed into a regional phenomenon, attracting thousands from across Southern Africa
and beyond. The 2024 edition saw an incredible international presence, with visitors from the
USA, Europe, and South America, further cementing the festival’s global reputation.
Join us for the 2025 edition, happening from November 28th to 30th! As always, the festival
grounds open on Thursday at 12:00 PM and close on Monday at 12:00 PM, promising an
unforgettable weekend filled with music, adventure, and, of course, the best braai experience in
Africa
